The Destiny Rising Three C's of Coaching

The 3 "C's" Of Coaching

[00:00:00] Hello, and thanks for joining us today. Today we're going to chat about the three Cs of coaching. If you are a coach, then these are the essential elements to build a great foundation when working with your client. And if you're working on your own personal development and self-coaching, then these tips will help you create long-lasting changes for yourself.

[00:00:23] So let's jump right into it. Coaching employs some awesome techniques that help people reach their full potential and achieve their goals. As a client, it's all about creating a personalized and holistic approach to help overcome any challenges you're facing, whether it's in your personal or professional life.

[00:00:43] The best part is Success Coaching is based on the idea that everyone has what it takes to succeed. Would you agree, Dan? I do. As a success coach, our job is to help you identify your strengths, work on your weaknesses or challenges, as I [00:01:00] prefer to call them, and create a roadmap to reach your desired outcomes.

[00:01:05] The way we train coaches goes beyond what most people think coaching is. People confuse consulting and coaching all the time. We focus on the structure of the problem rather than the actual content of the problem. The problem is usually not the problem, and I know that can be confusing, but it's usually the thinking that caused the problem.

[00:01:29] We realize these are just limitations in our thinking that are the actual problem. We'll have an entire podcast on that in the near future. Talking just about limitations, where we see fast, major change in our thinking. That's also why coaching is important because we need to set strong foundations, right?

[00:01:51] So let's talk about the three Cs of coaching. These are the three Cs of coaching that create those strong foundations. So the first C is [00:02:00] commitment to success. The fact is a good majority of people fail to achieve their goals, and that's not because they lack the talent or skills, but it's because they lack commitment.

[00:02:11] Think about it for both the client and the coach. Success is the name of the game. Striving for anything less than excellence is just settling for mediocrity, and that is not the goal. When it comes to being successful, both the client and the coach have to be on the same team and both have to be a hundred percent committed.

[00:02:31] We're all striving for excellence here, so let's not settle for anything less than the best. Remember, you have all the talent and skill that you need to achieve your goals. The key is commitment. What does that mean to you, Theresa? Commitment. Oh, that's a good question, Dan. What does commitment mean to me?

[00:02:51] Well, for sure it means having a strong desire and an unwavering dedication to reaching my goals, even when things get tough. [00:03:00] Commitment really is the glue that holds everything together. It's the driving force that propels us forward toward our goals and our dreams. I think without commitment, we are merely just floating aimlessly, but with it, we have the power to achieve anything we set our minds to.

[00:03:21] That's what it means to me. But I guess, what does commitment look like for those listening? I believe it's saying no to distractions and temptations that might pull you away from your goals. It's pushing through the tough times. It's having the courage to keep going, even when other people tell you to give up.

[00:03:45] And at the end of the day, commitment is the determination to see things through no matter what obstacles come your way. Knowing in the end, it will be totally worth it. I totally agree, and I think it's important to remember [00:04:00] that it's okay to stumble along the way. Just pick yourself up, keep going with commitment.

[00:04:04] You can achieve anything that you set your mind to. And we're all striving for excellence here. So let's not settle for anything less than the best. I think that is important now to go ahead and move on to the second C. The second C is commitment to action. If you wanna know the secret sauce to achieving your goals.

[00:04:22] It's commitment to taking action. That means consistently and intentionally working towards your goals even when things get tough. You need to be committed to yourself and your vision. If you want to turn the goals and dreams into reality, that's just what you have to do. And it's not about hoping and dreaming.

[00:04:42] It's about taking action and taking action every day. Oh, right, for sure. And don't worry about being perfect. Progress is what counts, right? That's right. It all comes down to taking action that I agree with. I cannot tell you how many times I've had to learn this lesson. [00:05:00] I've planned and planned and taken classes and courses and professional development, and all of that has added to my resources without a doubt.

[00:05:08] But it wasn't until I started taking action that important step of action, that I began to see movement toward my goals. Sure. Wanting change, dreaming and planning are important, but without action. They're just ideas floating around in your head. Committing to taking action means having integrity with yourself, making a promise to yourself to consistently and intentionally work towards your goals, no matter how big or how small they may be.

[00:05:41] It's waking up early every morning to work on your passion project, even when you don't feel like it. Or maybe putting the kids to bed early and staying up late to tackle an action step in your plan. Whatever your sacrifice, making that time and being intentional is of [00:06:00] vital importance. It all starts by setting achievable outcomes, breaking them down into smaller steps, and then taking action towards them.

[00:06:09] My go-to question to all my clients who come in overwhelmed is, Well, how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Yes. If that were not an analogy, it would be gross, but since it is, it's a good one that will pop into your mind the next time you're overwhelmed with something. You're welcome.

[00:06:32] That's a good one. I haven't heard that in a long time. , guess I'm gonna have to use that now. Yeah. In our coaching sessions, we like to end the session by having our clients make a contract outlining what their goals are. And what actions that they're gonna take before their next session is something that we highly recommend for all coaches, and it's something that we train in our Success Coach trainings.

[00:06:56] Even if you're coaching yourself, you might wanna make a weekly contract with [00:07:00] yourself. And hey, if you do, shoot me an email and let me know how it goes for you. This is important because studies in social psychology have shown that when a person makes a specific verbal and written commitment to action, they're more likely to stay consistent and follow through with it.

[00:07:16] So let's make a commitment to ourselves to get those goals accomplished. Make a commitment to take action every day, and you're gonna be amazed at what you can achieve. Oh, I love that, Dan. That's such an easy challenge, and the results I can tell you from experience are worth every effort you'll put forth in writing your commitments.

[00:07:38] Now, lastly, let's talk about the third and final C of success coaching. Creating accountability. We are here to help clients stay on track by setting goals, monitoring progress, and keeping folks accountable. We know it can be tough to stay motivated and having someone to hold you accountable does really make a difference.

[00:07:59] [00:08:00] We Work with clients to create a clear action plan with achievable milestones and deadlines. We'll also include weekly check-ins to hear about clients progress and to offer support and guidance when needed. If you are on a journey of self discovery, self-coaching, it's important to remember that you don't have to go it alone.

[00:08:20] Surround yourself with positive people who support you and that will make a big difference. Reach out to friends and family who believe in you and who believe in your goals. . Seek out online communities or support groups where you can connect with like-minded individuals who are also working towards self-improvement.

[00:08:40] And we do really believe in the power of having a coach, even if you're a coach yourself. We practice what we preach. We do have a coach ourselves, this is even though we are trainers, our training level is high up there. But you know what? We still see the value in having that coach.

[00:08:55] And our job as coaches is to help our clients stay [00:09:00] accountable and on track is to help them stay tracking toward their goals. Sometimes that means giving some tough love. But it's all in the spirit of helping them succeed. If we notice that they're not following through on something that they committed to, we'll let 'em know, Hey, this is not acceptable, and we'll work with them to find out what's holding them back from taking that action.

[00:09:21] Remember our coaching methods, focus on the structure of the problem instead of the details. We focus on the thinking that caused the problem and resolving that. You're capable of achieving great things, and with the right mindset and support, you can overcome any obstacle that comes your way.

[00:09:40] I know you hear a lot of excitement in our voice, that's because we truly believe the things that we're telling you and we've done it ourselves. , alright, let's wrap things up by summarizing the key components of effective coaching. The three Cs, commitment to success, commitment [00:10:00] to action, and creating accountability.

[00:10:03] These are all crucial for unlocking your potential and achieving your goals. By embracing these principles, you'll gain a deeper understanding of what you want to achieve.
